I am proud to be here today as a four-time cancer survivor. My journey began when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease at the age of 18. Then, twenty years later, in came breast cancer. Since then, I have fought this disease on three separate occasions. For me, unfortunately, cancer is something that has been a part of most of my life.
While there is so much to be sad about, I always focus on the positive. There is so much to be hopeful for as well! Fighting cancer, especially breast cancer, is something that changes your life. It puts things in perspective and gives you strength that you never knew you had. I found bright spots and now have extended my family in my breast cancer survivor dragon boat team. Each and every member understands the breast cancer journey. It has made us all stronger than ever.
