I found out I had cancer when I went to use the bathroom and I had my period. I panicked because I had not had a period in 10 years. I sent a message to my PCP and she told me to come in right away. When I went in I was scared not knowing what could be wrong. After my exam, my doctor said she was sending me to the GYN/Oncologist. It took two weeks to see her. They sent me for a sonogram and did an exam and she told me I had endometrial cancer and would be scheduling me to have surgery to remove the cancer. A total hysterectomy would also be done. The waiting period from that day until the day of the surgery was so scary and emotional. The day came for my surgery. I prayed for what seemed like two hours. Once it was time to go into surgery, I had a sense of calm. After surgery, I spoke with the doctor, and she said she got the entire cancer. And the good news was I would not need chemotherapy nor radiation. She said it can return in two years, so I need to see the GYN/oncologist every three months. I am now cancer-free for 17 months. I thank God for everything and the peace that transcends all understanding so that I was at peace going into surgery and knowing God had me. I try not to worry about the cancer coming back but it is very hard. But trusting in God helps.
