Ruby, cancer survivor

Ruby’s Story

In May of 2020 I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. I had the left kidney removed and then in July 2020 I was also diagnosed with bladder cancer. I had to have complete hysterectomy and my bladder was removed.

I began chemo at MD Anderson in September 2020, for my first 1 week round of 2 kinds of chemo. By October 2020 after being discharged I became very ill (septic). If my family had not taken me to emergency when they did I might not have made it.

In December of 2020 I began Keytruda for 12 rounds, after 10 months of treatment I had my first scan negative for cancer.  And as of December 2021 I still remain cancer free and blessed by God. With strong family support and faith in God and prayers, I am a survivor.
