I am proud to wear this pin stating I am a survivor. My lung cancer was surgically cured. I truly recognize that my battle was a drop in the bucket compared to the hell that so many must endure for their cure. My pin, as I am a nurse, opens the door to conversations and, hopefully, motivation on the other’s part towards healthy behaviors.
I encourage others who can gratefully say that they, too, are survivors to wear their pin proudly. Not to tell the story of their battle, per se, but to show that there are many survivors.
